Texas, Coming Soon to Italy

I’m excited to announce that my new book, “La Cucina Tex-Mex” will be in stores on October 20th! I hope this little video fired up your appetites for some Texan cooking, ’cause here’s another little taste from the book:

Although it hasn’t caused me any hassle in the airport, this book is the heaviest piece of luggage I’ve ever carried to Italy. It’s a trunk that I’ve filled slowly and relentlessly over the years with memories, colors, aromas and recipes from home. The chapters are organized into different menus, each celebrating and describing a unique facet of Texas food culture.

From the rugged cowboy recipes straight off the cattle trail, to the spicy fish gumbo from our Eastern swamplands, to the Caribbean-inspired mango salsa that sparked my own marriage, I will guide you on a journey, not only through the kitchens, but deep into the heart of Texas.

Here are the upcoming events!

Thursday, October 20th:  If you’re in the Milan area next Thursday,  I hope you’ll stop by my book signing at 6:30 pm! It’s going to be an explosive evening of Country and Blues music, Texan snacks, giant BBQ pits and a quick chat about the book. See the details below.

Thursday, October 27th: For a more in-depth Tex-Mex lesson, come to my cooking class at Kitchen, entirely dedicated to Lone Star cooking.  More information here.

The whole month of October:  The exhibit “Texas Food” at Kitchen features the photography of Emilio Scoti (my favorite photographer, and husband). Check out the review by l’Espresso here. The exhibit can be viewed at Kitchen in via de Amicis during regular business hours: Monday 3:30-7:30pm, Tues – Fri 10am-7:30pm.

  • Exciting! Emi’s pics for the exhibit are great too!

The one of the guy at Riverside is my fave…I’m gonna show him on my phone next time I’m there (which is way too often) :)

  • If only I could say that we were going to be in Milano next week! We’d be the first in line at your book signing!
Best of luck! We love you.

  • Too good~ Love the video and can’t wait to see the book! You know you’re “famous” when your name comes before the title of the book!!
